FIA Verdict

The Renault F1 Team received a two year ban suspended on the basis that no comparable offense is committed during that period. Failing this a permanent exclusion from the sport would be applied.

Following a frank admission of events leading to the deliberate crashing of Nelson Piquet's car, Renault will pay the full costs of the investigation and agreed to commit significant funding to the safety work of the FIA.

As a result of the crash a safety car was deployed and the combination of this and an early

refuelling of Alonso's car was alleged to have contributed to his race victory in Singapore.
